The United Bank is to sponsor Cairo University student participating in Paris International Design week for recycled furniture (LUCID)

The United Bank sponsors a team from Engineering faculty- Architecture department- Cairo University, who participate in Paris International Design Week, held on last September 2022 in France. The team shared a distinctive collection of very innovative and eco- friendly designs, under brand name LUCID.

Egyptian LUCID was honored by the visit of France first lady Bridget Macron-President Manual Macro’s wife. The visit was to their booth during the first day of Paris International Design Week 2022 inauguration.

Bridget Macron had a direct conversation with Cairo University team about the designs, the revival concept and recycling construction waste to produce furniture items that are sustainable and eco- friendly to face the climate change impacts.

The French, first lady praised the innovative furniture show and the modern solutions that are suitable for any area produced by LUCID, and already sold out in the first days of Paris Design Week. She supported LUCID team with encouraging words to continue towards sustainability, and showed her pleasure with the Egyptian Youth representatives in Paris International Design Week 2022.

LUCID is the only Egyptian brand represented in Paris Design Week Factory for talented youth and innovative designs. LUCID received great positive impressions during Paris Design week visitors.  Attendees represent different fields of professionalism stopped by LUCID booth as designers, professors, journalists expressing their interest in designs and recycle distent products.

LUCID team commented on their participation, that they were happy for this knowledgeable and enrichment experience. LUCID witness great support of Dr. Mohsen Abou El Nagga- Professor pf sustainable environment in faculty of Engineering- Cairo University.

They added that the designs received great admiration from visitors of different ages and nationalities. This experience granted us more inspiration to develop and provide new concepts for users.

What beyond LUCID first designs:
LUCID is considered as the ultimate solution for constructions waste problem, thinking critical in recycling concept and producing furniture items in a creative and factual manner,  In the development age. Which copes with the COP 26 Climate Change Conference 2021 held in Glascow, and COP 27 2022, that will be held in Sharm El Sheikh in Egypt.

LUCID was instructed by three Egyptian architectures “John”, “Ola”, and “Tokka Khalifa”, who were inspired by construction waste, and how to recycle these waste and other construction material (iron-cement- marble), and how to transform waste into colorful, innovative and attractive furniture items. Moreover, it can be used in both in public and private places.

Commenting on The United Bank sponsorship to LUCID team, Nevine Kashmiry- Deputy Managing Director for Business Sector, stated that UB’s strategy is based on adopting innovative ideas and solutions, that support proper environmental practices, that insure reserving natural resources for a healthy planet for the upcoming generations.

Nevine Kashmiry added that studies since the beginning of the 21st century, have used developed implementation means to recycle waste to save the environment and decrease harmful emissions, that negatively affect the climate, to reduce natural resources and energy depletion. That’s why UB has sponsored the Engineering team under the name of LUCID brand.

Dr. Mohamed Otham El khosht- Cairo University Chairman, has praised the role of Cairo university in supporting its graduates and the promising youth in their specialties, to qualify them to represent Egypt in international platforms in the best way.

On his side, Dr. Hossam El Din Abdel Fatah- Engineering Faculty Dean, Cairo University, emphasized that the role of the university is to scientifically empower students and graduates to compete with their skills whether in inside Egypt or outside.

Dr. Mohsen Abou El Nagga, added that the Egyptian student or graduate has the chance to show his/her innovative engineering works related to waste recycle in international forums. Because of its great impact in reducing the carbon emissions in cities, that was remarkable in Paris International Design week in 2022.

An Overview about the fair:

It’s worth mentioning that around 25 brands have participated in Paris International Design week, from different countries, the Egyptian Cairo teams was among them. In addition to 60 participants from different countries, like: France, USA, South Korea, Belgium, Kuwait, The United Kingdom, Lebanon, Romania, Iran, Switzerland. Paris International Design week invites every year in August all nationalities to discover best designs.

The event was organized by the reputable planning event company “MAISON& OBJET”, its headquarter is in Paris. It serves those who specializes in interior design and architecture and life style culture. The event includes 250 participants who promote their first class designs. In the same time, new fall collections are presented in the stores. The event includes gifted, retail sellers, fairs, show rooms, hotels, and restaurants for 8 days to exchange expertise in the designing field.

The Paris International Design Week, was firstly launched in September 2011, by “MAISON& OBJET”, is among the most well- known specialized platforms in furniture. It earned a huge number of followers from professionals, mass media and the public interest. And now it had a big foot print in the architecture world, and is among the leading events in the fall season, and a platform for young gifted in architecture. The Paris Design Week emphasizes that Paris Week 2022 is about the emergence of young innovative from all over the world.
