The United Bank "Arab Charitable Award" for the most innovative projects "Tagaleyat" for economic empowerment of Saint Catherine’s habitat

The Arab Council for Social Responsibility, The Arab States League, awarded "Arab Charitable Award" for the most innovative projects to The United Bank. This is about "Tagaleyat" project for economic empowerment of Saint Catherine’s habitat yesterday on the sidelines of the Humanitarian and Voluntary Work Conference in the era of community leadership.

The award was received by Gihan Abou Hussein - President of Ethar for Community Development and Sustainability, who expressed her happiness for winning this great and distinguished Arab award.

The Arab Charitable Award aims to monitor the best charitable works directed in the Arab world, whether at the individual or institutional level; the jury, consisting of a large number of experts and specialists, selects the winners, whether from institutions or influential individuals in the field of charitable work in the Arab world.

Dr. Randa Rizk, Secretary-General of The Arab Council for Social Responsibility, says that the conference comes in light of the council’s continuous work to support sustainable development goals and to maximize humanitarian and volunteer work, especially in light of the era of community leadership. Rizk emphasized Egyptian and Arab efforts to support humanitarian and voluntary work to contribute to achieving sustainable development goals that would support development goals in the Arab world. Noting that the conference included the announcement of the "Arab Charitable Award" to identify the most influential individuals and institutions in the field of charitable work in the Arab world and honoring its winners, announcing the launch of the "Arab Observatory for Social Responsibility", and announcing initiatives and projects issued by "Cairo Technology Announcement for Community Service".

Her Excellency Ambassador Dr. Haifa Abou Ghazalah, General Secretary Assistant and Head of the Social Affairs Sector at the General Secretariat of the Arab States League that the Arab States League’s sponsorship of the Conference on Humanitarian and Voluntary Work in the Era of Community Leadership shows the extent of the Arab League's interest in civil society organizations concerned with social responsibility and working to implement the 2030 sustainable development goals. The ambassador stressed that the Arab League is making all efforts in order to coordinate between Arab governments and Arab civil society organizations and institutions to effectively involve them in the joint Arab action system.

Ashraf El Kady, Chairman of The United Bank, expressed his happiness for receiving The Arab Charitable Award for the most innovative projects, which was granted by The Arab Council for Social Responsibility in the League Arab States to The United Bank.

He added that "Tagaleyat" project is working to provide a decent life for 350 families as a first stage, which contributes to the consolidation of the principles of human rights and the deepening of belonging to the spirit of the homeland. It is also a model for economic empowerment that comes in line with the United Bank's strategy in sustainable community development for a number of targeted societal segments, especially women and youth, which will reflect positively on the chances of maximizing the economic and social return for the state as a whole.

Gihan Abou Hussein - Head of Ethar for Community Development and Sustainability says that The United Bank launched the "Manifestations" project to empower the people of Saint Catherine and in the Transfiguration Mountain region under the slogan "Manifestations.. inherited by generations" in cooperation with the Governor of South Sinai, Major Khaled Fouda and Major Talaat ElAnani - President of Saint Catherine last May.

The Economic Empowerment Project for the people of Saint Catherine and the Transfiguration Mountain area seeks to promote entrepreneurship to improve competitiveness and productivity, especially in the field of manufacturing agricultural and food products and handicrafts for which this region is famous, such as: the mountain honey extraction industry, the olive oil extraction and pressing industry, the cultivation of natural herbs, the cultivation of almonds and the industry soap, as well as handicrafts with the famous Sinai embroidery and the manufacture of rosaries.
