Cairo: May 18th, 2021

Dr. Mohamed Meaait - Minister of Finance, announced that the total number of transactions that were made through the "citizen paid" mechanism for electronic collection of government payments in Cairo and the governorates, since its implementation in May 2019 until March 2021, reached 529 thousand transactions, with a total value of 54 billion pounds.

The Minister of Finance confirmed, in a statement via the Nabed network, that The United Bank is among the leading banks providing the service that facilitates the Egyptian citizen the process of paying his government obligations in the fastest time and from his location in the Arab Republic of Egypt without the need to travel to cities or provincial capitals.

The Minister of Finance confirmed that the mechanism for instantaneous payment of government obligations is subject to continuous development by the Ministry of Finance, banks and the Financial Institutions Technology Operating Company as one of the mechanisms for non-cash payment of government dues.

It is worth noting that The United Bank had previously announced in a statement last April, that an increase in electronic government payments reached 125% during the first quarter of 2021 compared to the same period of 2020, and it still maintains the same rates during the second quarter of 2021.

Ashraf El Kady - Chairman of the Board of Directors of The United Bank confirmed that the electronic government obligations payment service works to achieve several important dimensions: the economic and strategic dimension of the Egyptian state, the institutional dimension of the United Bank, and also the social dimension for the Egyptian citizen.

Where the economic and strategic dimension of the Egyptian state comes in accordance with Vision 2030 to accelerate the transformation process for a cashless society. As well as encouraging economic activity to enter the official system of the state. This maximizes the state’s resources and speeds up the process of launching vigorously towards achieving comprehensive development.
The institutional dimension for The United Bank, in maximizing its market share in proportion to its human and technical capabilities. The bank has an infrastructure and digital systems that are qualified according to the latest global digital services system to serve customers and non-customers in real time. This is in addition to the continuous improvement of the package of programs and features provided to customers, which enables them to fulfill their obligations while saving time and effort and reducing material and time waste.

As for the social dimension, it comes within the framework of supporting the Egyptian state in accessing basic services such as education, health and facilities for the citizen to improve his life by expanding the base of financial and social inclusion to achieve the foundations of social justice.
