On the occasion of The International Women's Day, Nevine Kashmiry - Deputy Managing Director for Business Sectors - expressed that The United Bank pays great attention to Egyptian women on various economic, cultural and professional levels, especially rural, Bedouin, breadwinner and poor women. With the aim of enhancing its participation in building the national economy, raising female employment rates and expanding the base of financial inclusion.

 

The figures and indicators 2020, issued by the Central Agency for Mobilization and Statistics, indicate that only 14% is the volume of female participation in the labor market. This means that there are large percentages of females far from the labor market and its requirements. This is despite the fact that Egyptian woman has proven her superior ability to face and absorb shocks and turn them into successes at all levels, the latest of which was Corona pandemic. However, there are a number of social and economic obstacles that still prevent women from advancing, including: education, professional training, and some social and cultural legacies.

 

Nevine Kashmiry expressed that The United Bank's strategy was built on the basis of maximizing the role of women and their contribution to the national economy. Over the past four years, efforts to empower women economically have focused on 4 main areas:

 

  • Financing small and medium projects - through cooperation with the Small and Medium Projects Development Authority and within the national initiative led by the Central Bank of Egypt where The United Bank offers many financing programs and technical support programs for clients of financing small, medium and micro projects in the form of specialized training courses in management and raising the technical efficiency of the project and bank qualification with the preparation of feasibility studies and analysis of the cash flows of the project as well as qualification for entrepreneurship and the foundations of good marketing and how to develop a sales plan and develop the self-skills of the work team as one of the foundations for a decent life initiative.

 

  • The field of innovation and development of products and available financing solutions - in order to meet the needs of customers, especially women's projects, in the form of specialized financing programs.

 

  • The field of financial inclusion - The United Bank conducted a series of field tours within the framework of the initiative of The Central Bank of Egypt for financial inclusion during which it presented a package of banking products intended for Egyptian women as well as raising awareness of distinguished digital banking solutions that contribute and support the role of Egyptian women socially and economically. This is done in a number of governorates of the Republic, including South Sinai - Meniya - Beni Suef - Dakahleya - Qalioubeya – Sharkeya - Menoufeya - Sohag - Fayoum - Assiout.

 

  • In the field of community development - by providing support and community support to a number of civil institutions, including the Egyptian Foundation for Breast Cancer Care - Baheya Hospital for Breast Cancer Treatment - and Zewail University - and festive care for orphans in South Sinai and the Holy Quran competition as well as providing support to Bedouin women through a health awareness campaign to detect diseases such as breast cancer, as well as the "Our Children in Our Eyes" campaign in Fayoum.

 

Kashmiry indicated that the financing activity of The United Bank includes many different types of activities, including: commercial, industrial, service and craftsmanship to suit the nature and conditions of Egyptian women as well as an extensive study to determine the comparative advantage of each governorate according to the geographical nature.

 

Through simple procedures, the customer can obtain the necessary financing for his project from the network of 68 branches of The United Bank spread all over the Republic according to the initiative of The Central Bank of Egypt for small, medium and micro projects. In addition to a program specialized in entrepreneurship and start-up companies under the name "Nil Pioneers".

 

This is in addition to the latest features in financing grants through The United Bank’s smart technological mechanisms through a package of distinguished electronic banking solutions under the slogan “Your Bank On Line”, which operates around 24 hours, 7 days a week, from mobile banking and Internet banking, as well as UB digital wallet and ATMs aiming to save customers' time and effort, as well as ensuring complete safety in their financial transactions.
