The United Bank awards four winners in the Transformers Innovation Competition- August 2024

Under the slogan of “Enhancing Artificial Intelligence usages in Banking Industry”, and in the framework of the summer internship program, The United Bank announced earlier today the four winners in UB Transformers Innovation competition - first edition - August 2024.
The winners:
• Salma Fathy- 1st place winner, student in the Faculty of Media and Mass Communication- Cairo University. The project was about enhancing the cognitive perception for clients using AI.
• Yomna Hatem- 2nd place winner, student in MIU faculty of Media and Mass Communication. She participated with an AI project, in enhancing the digital stereotype for communication channels.
• The 3rd prize was equally divided between; Mohamed Ali- student in faculty of AI, Delta University for Science and Technology. His project was to develop banking services for people with disabilities. Along with Ehab Hamed- faculty of Computer and Information Science, Benha University. He participated with a project about disseminating mechanisms of digital transformation with internal culture.
Around 288 trainees participated in the competition throughout July and August 2024. With around more 350 training hours along the two months, in 68 UB branches and 30 central administrations, and with more than 90 supervisors of UB work team.
The judgement panel was including UB leaders to assess all the presented projects. A number of meticulous standards were set to evaluate the winning projects: creativity, innovation, and the benefit of the project. As well as, the personal and leadership traits and ability to team work.
Ashraf El Kady- Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director expressed his content with the level of innovation and creativity witnessed in the first edition of the competition. He added that he is looking forward to apply some of these projects soon in the future.
He stated the importance of empowering the next generation through directing the innovative capabilities of different Egyptian University students, especially in the sustainable development field, and smart solutions to improve the digital and banking experience of the clients.
El Kady stated that the summer internship program was based on encouraging the technological innovations in many vital fields including fintech and artificial intelligence. Hence, interns received induction courses to get to know digitalization characteristics, its updates and application in banking work. Moreover, getting to know to global innovative directions in the digital age. The thing that contributes to enhancing the inevitable transformation process for labor requirements and the workers’ skills.
He pointed out that the Innovation Competition is regarded as a great opportunity for youth to show their skills and develop their ideas into practical solutions. Especially, that it links both practical and theoretical training with the corporate dedication to develop the cognitive and personal skills of the trainees and encouraging innovative thinking.
He clarified that UB summer internship programs were designed by UBian expertise in many banking work fields to develop the interns’ skills on three basic axes:
1- First: Developing cognitive skills: summer internship programs provide interns with distinctive opportunities to know the work environment in one of the biggest financial banking institution in Egypt. Moreover, getting to know fundamentals of banking work, understanding internal dimensions, different jobs, and different banking procedures. That’s contributes to enhancing their practical skills and qualifying them for labor market. As well as, getting to know the most important technological innovations in banking field, which is regarded as one of the most important features of the digital age.
2- Second: Developing personal traits: UB summer internship program enable the interns to gain many personal skills. Such as communication and team work. Moreover, overcoming challenges through developing the practical and creative thinking. Which will support their practical experience and enrich their resumes.
3- Third: Encouraging innovation: through a set of programs and activities, aiming to developing the youth innovative capabilities and let them think out of the box. Furthermore, a group of supervisors to polish their thinking and directing them towards the premium way to apply.
