The United Bank wins the first place; The Future of Virtual Currencies competition from The Egyptian Banking Institute

Noura Ashraf – The United Bank- has won the first place in The Egyptian Bank Institute competition that was organized in cooperation with the Media Arab center, on “The Future of Virtual Currencies”.

The study discussed the virtual currencies concept and its impact on monetary policies, financial and banking stability amid the digitization and the approach towards cashless economies. It also handled the future of those currencies in Egypt, especially with the state approach towards digital transformation.

The study theme was based on Block Chain techniques that keep completely safe record of transactions without using central record. It also discussed the characteristics of virtual currencies and its role in boosting financial inclusion. In addition, providing safe low- cost payment options for customers. Moreover, setting solutions for global challenges such as: Money laundry, terrorism funding and tax evasion.

Noura Ashraf works in the strategic planning department at The United Bank. She had got her MBE from The Arab Academy for Sciences and Technology. She obtained her B.Sc. of Commerce from Helwan University. Noura has worked in many departments in UB: Financial inclusion and sustainable and green finance department.

Commenting on this award, Ashraf El Kady- The Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, expressed his pleasure with Noura’s winning and getting the first place in the competition.

El Kady thanked all the organizers: The Arab Media Center, EBI and the participated banks for their concerted efforts in preparing such a distinctive competition.

He added that among UB strategies is to support and develop its teamwork members either in banking field or in technicalities, through critical thinking, cognitive and innovative development through training workshops as; high fliers, overseas missions and practical and professional training with a big number of educational Egyptian and foreign institutions like EBI and Frankfurt center for finance and management. The thing that boost the institutional vision and organizational work to improve the innovative attitude, developing skills and knowledge for the participants.
