The United Bank - Laky forum - along with Baheya foundation participate in “Green Summer” campaign towards better environmental practices
Cairo: 31st of August, 2023
Coinciding with the beginning of September, which witnesses celebrating 5 international events initiated by The United Nations, aiming to preserve environment. The United Bank launched “Green Summer” campaign towards better environmental practices to preserve beaches, marine life and safety of life on Earth.
UB Laky forum along with Baheya Foundation for Breast Cancer participate in “Green Summer” campaign, to accomplish environmental balance, which will be added to UB 21eco- friendly initiatives and projects.
The interactive event started with awareness videos, about how to keep the balance in the marine environment and for the safety of life on Earth. A number of green practices have been conducted to preserve beaches clean to eliminate the negative impact of climate. Also, prevent their biological impacts on the safety of human’s and marine life in both river and seas.
The awareness campaign stated it’s a mutual responsibility for all mankind to preserve marine and environment safely in-order to reduce the negative impacts of climate change.
Those practices included a set of simple instructions to eliminate plastic bags through replacing plastic products and tableware with substances rapidly bio degenerating or recyclable bottles. In addition to searching for alternatives to replace chemical waste with eco- friendly substances. The thing that reflects positively on human’s life and health.
It is worth mentioning that the month of September includes 5 international occasions launched annually by UN, which are: The International Day for The Preservation of Ozone Layer, World Maritime Day, The International Day for Zero Carbon Emissions, World’s Day for Rivers, and The International Day for Charitable Work.
It is worth mentioning that Baheya Foundation participation in “Green Summer” initiative launched by UB, comes within the framework of the fruitful cooperation protocol signed. Aiming to provide financial support and social awareness for Baheya fighters, either in banking services, or health awareness campaigns.
The United Bank 21 eco- friendly initiatives and projects in four axes:
First: green economy mechanisms
UB issued the first carbon emissions report in the three headquarters in October 2022. UB’s participation in the initiative of car conversion to operate with natural gas in 2021. UB announced the soon opening of the eco-friendly UB New Capital building. Moreover, providing a bundle of distinctive banking solutions to expand the base of financial inclusion. As well as, a package of digital services under the slogan “Your Banking Online”.
Second: Green Social axes
UB contributed with financial support to the transformation of Sharm El Sheikh into Green City. As well as, empowering residents of Saint Catherine in South Sinai to operate 350 families within the framework of Tagalyat. In the present, developmental work is being processed in Nagga El Gosour village in Luxor Government after Khorshid village in Ahnesia Center in Beni Swef governorate; all these are in the Decent Life presidential initiative.
Third: Human’s health axes:
UB conducted many national initiatives, such as: the national campaign to eliminate virus C, Corona vaccine purchasing, 100 Million Health to examine and treat communicable diseases, , the campaign “Our Children in Our Eyes” is launched to detect school children for eye diseases - skin diseases – anemia, Women Health initiative, and the eliminating waiting lists initiative.
Fourth: Human Resources axes
UB did not overlook the importance of investing in Egyptian youth, as they are the future leadership. UB’s strategy is based on the importance of qualifying them scientifically and practically to ensure the sustainability of the integrated development plans in Egypt. UB provided support to a number of initiatives and youth activities, such as: World Youth Forum, with its four editions. UB provides all kinds of technical and financial support to Nile Pioneers initiative, since its launch in 2018, UB has opened three entrepreneurships centers in Delta, Upper Egypt, and Cairo. UB sponsored Cairo University team from Engineering Faculty in the competition to design an eco- friendly car. The team won in Shell Eco 2019 competition. UB sponsored Cairo University team from Engineering Faculty, who participated in Paris Design Week 2022, to design furniture out of construction waste. UB sponsored Cairo University team from Engineering Faculty students, until winning the 1st and 2nd places in the international competition for innovative urban agriculture held in Italy in 2020 and 2021. UB sponsors the Engineering faculty team in Cairo University participating in Paris Fair for Furniture designing from waste in 2022. UB sponsors the Engineering faculty team in Cairo University in the eco- friendly car building competition until victory in the international Shell Eco 2019 & 2023.
On the internal level, UB invests in developing its human resources and qualifying them to future leadership through the High Fliers program, to start the practical participation in framing the strategies and executive plans and practicing the real managing rules in UB.
