Cairo: June 18, 2025
Forbes Middle East has selected The United Bank as "The Top 50 Strongest Public Companies in Egypt for 2025."
The United Bank ranked 26th on Forbes’s list of the 50 strongest public companies in Egypt for 2025, with a market value of $303 million, sales of $276 million, net profits of $56 million, and total assets of $1.7 billion.
The United Bank was listed on the Egyptian Exchange in December 2024, becoming the first bank to offer its shares for public subscription in Egypt since 1996. The bank offered 30% of its shares for $90.5 million, with 95% of the offered shares allocated to financial institutions, individuals, and entities with experience and financial solvency inside and outside Egypt, and 5% offered publicly to the local market. The bank provides both conventional and Sharia-compliant banking services.
The banking and financial services sector dominated the list of the 50 strongest public companies in Egypt for 2025, with 17 companies, total sales of $13.5 billion, and total assets of approximately $78.4 billion. This was followed by the industrial companies and real estate and construction sectors, with 7 companies each.
To compile the list, Forbes relied on data from the Egyptian Exchange, and companies were ranked according to four main criteria with equal relative weights: sales, total assets, and net profits for the fiscal year 2024, in addition to market value calculated based on market closures on April 25, 2025. Companies with equal total points received the same ranking, and companies that had not disclosed their audited financial statements for 2024 by April 25, 2025, were excluded. Foreign exchange rates on the same date were also adopted.
