The United Bank Sponsors "People and Banks"- 19th edition Conference and Honors The Winners of the Research Competition in Collaboration with The Egyptian Banking Institute

The United Bank announced its sponsorship of the 19th edition of “People and Banks" Conference under the slogan "Smart Economy... Secure Future". The conference is organized by The Arab Media Center, under the patronage of The Central Bank of Egypt, and features broad participation from Egyptian banks, prominent banking and economic leaders, as well as representatives from international financial institutions.
The conference discussed important topics across its three sessions, including: Banks and Economic Reform. A Partnership for Stability, and the Role of Banks in the Climate Change Battle.
One key session was titled "Bank Security in a Smart World", was moderated by Tarek Fayed – Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, The United Bank. Participants included Dr. Abdel Aziz Nosseir – Chief Executive Officer of The Egyptian Banking Institute, Osama El Sayed – Deputy Chairman of Nasser Social Bank, Abir Khadr – Head of the Cybersecurity Group at The National Bank of Egypt, Rania El Ruby – Head of Information Security Sector at Banque Misr, and Dr. Abdel Wahab Ghoneim – Vice Chairman of The Arab Union for Digital Economy.
The session covered several focus areas, including: What are the most prominent preparatory and practical steps taken by the banking sector and the Egyptian Banking Institute to qualify banking cadres to keep pace with rapid technological development and Artificial Intelligence (AI) mechanisms? What are the strategies of central banks to prepare the infrastructure to absorb the accelerating growth of the digital economy? Also, what are the banks' readiness for the digital transformation phase and the steps taken regarding infrastructure, upgrading human competencies, and deepening digital awareness among customers?
Commenting on The United Bank's sponsorship of the 19th edition of "People and Banks" Conference, Tarek Fayed – CEO and Managing Director – stated that the sponsorship reflects the bank's integrated strategy aimed at supporting the banking industry and fostering specialized dialogue on issues related to digital transformation, sustainability, financial inclusion, climate change, and cybersecurity. Furthermore, it allows for discussion of global economic challenges and their impact on the local market.
Regarding The United Bank's sponsorship of the research competition awards, which is organized by The Arab Media Center in collaboration with the Egyptian Banking Institute – the training arm of The Central Bank of Egypt – this year, titled "Evaluating the Creditworthiness of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) Using Artificial Intelligence", Fayed noted that The United Bank pays special attention to investing in human capital and supporting scientific research mechanisms as a means to empower young leaders and support their journey toward development and innovation. This has a significant impact on developing banking thought and encouraging the exchange of expertise among local and global financial and banking institutions.
A number of banking researchers from various banks participated in the competition. Their research presented innovative solutions to enhance the creditworthiness of a promising sector of the Egyptian economy, especially given the challenges related to growth opportunities and its contributions to Egypt’s comprehensive development in line with the 2030 plan.
During the closing ceremonies of the conference, Farag Abdel Hamid – Deputy Managing Director of The United Bank – honored the winners and distributed the prizes amidst widespread praise from attendees for the quality of the submitted research, confirming that this competition represents a successful model for integrating academic research with practical application in the banking industry.
