Under the Patronage of the Central Bank of Egypt: The United Bank Participates in the "My Book is My Gift" Initiative in Cooperation with the Egyptian Clothing Bank
Cairo: October 2, 2025
Under the patronage of The Central Bank of Egypt and coinciding with the start of the new academic year, The United Bank participated in "My Book is My Gift" initiative, in cooperation with The Egyptian Clothing Bank.
The initiative aims to contribute books, tools, and school supplies to the most needy students across the Republic. This participation is part of UB's commitment to its leading role in corporate social responsibility (CSR), supporting the education sector, and achieving the principles of sustainable development.
The initiative aims to collect the largest number of books and study materials in various fields (such as cultural, academic, scientific, historical, and children's books), as well as necessary school supplies for students, and distribute them to the most needy families. The target is to alleviate the burdens on these families and support students and their parents to continue their education and human development across all governorates of the Republic.
"My Book is My Gift" initiative is a continuation of the fruitful cooperation between The United Bank and the Egyptian Clothing Bank, following the success of several community solidarity campaigns to support the most vulnerable families. Dedicated collection boxes have been placed at the Bank's head office and a number of its 68 branches spread throughout the Republic.
Gihane Abu Hussein – Head of The United Bank’s Ithaar Sector for Community Development stated that education is a human and social right, serving as the golden gateway to building a better future for both individuals and society as a whole.
Affirmed that the initiative stems from The United Bank's social responsibility and its strategy of investing in Egypt's human capital and empowering people by providing an integrated educational environment that helps them continue their studies, develop, and achieve their ambitions.
She explained that the total number of students enrolled in various educational stages up to pre-university education is over 25 million students, according to Ministry of Education statistics for 2024-2025.
Stressed the State, concerned agencies, and The Central Bank of Egypt's interest in education as a national security issue. Their combined efforts aim to provide a high-quality educational environment and eliminate student dropout rates, which reached 0.24% for the primary level and 0.47% for the preparatory level.
Abu Hussien praised UB's efforts in cooperation with state agencies and The Central Bank of Egypt to address the students causes of dropping out from education regarding economic factors (like low family income and the need for child labor) and social factors (such as some families preferring girls to work in domestic chores instead of continuing education). These efforts also focus on increasing community awareness of the value of education and addressing issues like classroom overcrowding and psychological reasons for dropout.
