The United Bank has announced its participation in organizing the 32nd International Holy Quran Competition, in-partnership with the Ministry of Endowments at the Grand Mosque of Egypt in the New Administrative Capital. The event is held under the gracious patronage of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and chaired by Dr. Osama Al-Azhari, Minister of Endowments.
This year’s competition witnessed unprecedented participation, with 158 contestants from 72 countries. The total prize pool reached 13 million Egyptian Pounds.
The competition features eight branches covering Quranic memorization, recitations (Qira’at), understanding of objectives (Maqasid), interpretation (Tafsir), linguistics, and the reasons for revelation (Asbab al-Nuzul). Special categories are dedicated to non-Arabic speakers, people of determination, and “The Memorizing Family.” The event aims to serve the Holy Book, discover global talents, promote correct Quranic awareness, and strengthen spiritual ties between nations.
During the closing ceremony, that was attended by numbe of Egyptian minsters, Dr. Osama Al-Azhari honored Tarek Fayed, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of The United Bank, praising the bank’s efforts and its leadership’s role in supporting the competition and fostering a successful partnership with the Egyptian Ministry of Endowments.
Dr. Osama Al-Azhari stated that the competition serves as a global platform to discover distinguished talents in Quranic memorization and recitation. He emphasized that this initiative aligns with Egypt’s noble mission and its pioneering role in serving the Holy Quran and spreading enlightened religious thought.
Commenting on the successful partnership, Tarek Fayed, CEO and Managing Director of The United Bank, stated: “The United Bank pays special attention to the International Holy Quran Competition. We believe in the vital role that national institutions and the banking sector play in encouraging moderation and consolidating ethical values. This global event reflects Egypt’s leadership and enhances its cultural and religious presence on the international stage.”
He added: “The competition embodies major developmental values that The United Bank promotes within its corporate agenda, such as peace, diligence, and enlightened understanding. It highlights role models for modern youth who are armed with the latest scientific and technological theories while remaining rooted in their faith.”
Fayed also confirmed that while The United Bank traditionally organizes an annual Quran competition across its 68 branches in 19 governorates, the management decided this year to add an international dimension by partnering with the Ministry of Endowments. This collaboration facilitates the exchange of expertise and continues the mission of building religious awareness and correcting misconceptions through moderate religious discourse.
