The United Bank is to present its investment strategy square and instrument in developing the educational sector

The United Bank participated today in the first summit for investment in the educational sector, under the slogan “The governmental programs, investment platforms .. A new vision to invest in education” under the patronage of Ministry of Planning and Economic development, Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Education and Technical Education along with economic elite figures, education professors and a constellation of media figures.

In the second session, Mohamed El Sabban, Assistant Managing Director, The United Bank spoke about UB strategy and its innovative investment mechanisms targeted to developing and qualifying the educational system, participating” Sherif Samy - the Former President of Finance Regulatory authority, Ibrahim Sarhan - CEO and Deputy Manager of “e-finance”, Waleed Hasona- the Executive President of non-banking Funding Sector in the EFG HERMES.  The panel was moderated by Dr. Sahar El Damaty – Banking expert and consultant.

Mohamed El Sabban declared that the investments mechanism provided by The United Bank to support the national development and qualify the national approach towards the flourishment of the educational system in Egypt is parallel to the national strategy of human rights 2021 drawn by President Abd El Fatah EL Sisi and in accordance to The Central Bank of Egypt initiatives to maximizing the investments in the education field.

As the Egyptian State and The Central Bank of Egypt aims to deepen the Egyptian identity and building up a new educated and innovative generation in accordance to the latest international educational system. A generation who is capable of facing and leading the future, and what is embedded in terms of challenges and opportunities to promote and sustain nation’s development. Besides, support provided to the scientific research and innovative competencies in different fields.

Mohamed El Sabban stated that The United Bank’s strategy is based on four sides shaping an integrated investment square in economic, social, health and cultural sides. In order to develop the educational system with all its stages as well as the vocational education system, which is regarded as the locomotive for entire economic growth in Egypt.

First: The Economic Side:

1.The United Bank joined a bank alliance and civil community to establish “Light House” platform, for educational system with 1.75 billion Egyptian Pounds. The alliance includes the sovereign Egyptian Fund and Misr Bank and Misr Holding Company along with The United Bank. The fund is jointly managed by Engineer Hossam Kabany, “AIX investment group” and “Misr Capital”.

Light House educational platform grants growth promising opportunities through investing in Egyptian cadres capable of creating effective projects in sectors like education, as well as coping with the alliance strategy in investment in the educational sector targeting the middle class.  In addition to expanding in the governorates using the State assets through Light House by establishing new schools and develop the already existed ones aiming to improving them and maximizing their values.

  1. Launching the educational funding product “Easy Learn” for individuals and institutions in traditional funding methods and compliant with sharia.

Mohamed El Sabban referred to the educational loan product “Easy Learn” that the United Bank grants as a distinctive funding solutions. Providing flexible and smart facilities to the Egyptian family and educational institutions. Eassy Lean product is offered with official fatwa announced by the legitimate authority in The United Bank, through UB 68 branches covering all around the Republic. Besides 6 digital centers distributed neatly to serve customers in: Giza, 6th of October, El Sheikh Zayed, the industrial region in Gamassa - El Dakahlia governorate, New Cairo and El Mokattam. Along with the instant personal enquiry service through mobile banking which works 24/7 or through more than 225 ATMs covering most of the Republic. Besides, providing installment payment in due dates by digital solutions saving customer’s effort and time. Such as:  Your bank Online, ATMs, UB digital wallet and mobile banking.

  1. “Intlaka” product for funding medium and small projects granted for educational institution. Mohamed El Sabban explained that the educational process needs an intellectual and executional revolution. So, there must be partners to support the development plans and improve the quality and competency of educational services presented. That happening through funding all expands regarding the educational institutions either in buildings, numbers or preparations.

El Sabban added that The United Bank provides “INTLAKA” service to fund medium and small projects aiming to fund the educational development tools and equipment either informative, visual and audio to guarantee a better educational level for students. As well as funding transportation fleets for these educational institutions.

  1. 4. Remote learning E- Learning, The United Bank cooperates with the Egyptian Banking Institute and local and international institutions.

Mohamed El Sabban shed the light on the advantages of E- learning and remote training especially after Covid-19 Pandemic, as a good substitute to complete the educational and training march. Those advantages are:

*Reducing the cost of travelling and transportation to get training courses.

*Developing the traditional performance of training courses to discussion panels and workshops through computers or cell phones or video conferences.

*Trainee comfort and ability to get the material he/she wants to study and train on, wherever they go through personal computers.

*E-Learning is flexible in time and place, grants freedom for different ages to keep learn and get themselves trained.

*The ability to get specialized training courses by most well-known international trainers according to international standards.

*Reducing time spent in moving into the training place, and break times, so the trainee gets more information.

  1. High Fliers Program. The United Bank invests in human resources and building up a new leading generation.

El Sabban emphasized on investment in developing human resources and qualifying them to future leadership is one of the most important challenges to UB turning process to a youth bank with innovate ideas and management and applications. This extensive qualifying and integrated development process exceeds 70 thousand hours annually. Through which many leading young leaders emerged, to start since 2019 the practical participation stage in planning UB strategies and exercising real management.

The last four years (since 2018) witnessed a wide range movement for those youth leaderships. High fliers work teams were created, specializations and assignments were distributed. Then the work started up to bring innovate and flexible solutions up to light in order to contribute in UB sustainable growth plans. Such as: Digital Development, spreading Banking awareness and financial inclusion, providing internal training, decreasing consumption, initiate retail products and develop the existing ones to meet the clients requirements. 

Second: The Social Side

  1. Architecture Engineering students- Cairo University

Mohamed El Sabban referred to UB support provided to architecture engineering students – Cairo university for 3 years in row who are recognized as distinctive young researches. In which 26 students, graduates and post graduates have won the 2nd and 3rd awards in Italy and Portugal for designing houses according to sustainable standards for poor slums.

  1. The United Bank grants 12 scholarships for students in Zowail City for science and technology.

Mohamed El Sabban declared that 12 eligible students were provided UB scholarships within UB strategy to support the development of scientific research in Egypt and empowering Egyptian students innovate capabilities. He added that the scientific research is the main engine of the economic transitional process from traditional to up-to-date economic based on knowledge. Besides, bringing in solutions and cure for health issues and social problems which affect individual productivity and hinder the entire development process of the society.

  1. Support Engineering student- Cairo University

UB supported the engineering team in their innovative project of building an energy- saving car, which won in the Shell Eco Marathon Competition held in Italy.

Third: The Social Side:

  1. “Awladna fe Einyna”- our children in our eyes - initiative sponsored by Education and Technical Education Ministry in cooperation with Sonaa El Kheir institution.

Mohamed El Sabban expressed that national “Awladna fe Einyna” - our children in our eyes - initiative aims to eliminate Blindness and its causes in Egyptian Children sponsored by the Education Ministry.

A medical team had examined children in 54 schools in 4 governorates: South Sinai (Saint Catrine), Cairo (Helwan), Halayeb W Shalateen, El Fayoum.

As well as providing them with medical needed services on 3 main axes: Control Blindness Causes, Anemia and Hyphemia Control and Children Diabetes. For more than 30 thousand pupils. El Sabban added that UB aims to raise awareness and shed light on these children needs and improve their lives to provide them decent life and better future. Blindness causes in children is a real danger threatens the new generation future, who is supposed to lead the nations towards a better future. As blindness hinders these children from educational achievement and limits their chances in progress and sound reasoning.

Cultural Side:

1- UB and for two years in row supports the students of Academy of Arts and Applied Technology. The first specialized school in Middle East and Africa.

The Academy of Arts and Applied Technology is the first school in the Middle East Africa to graduate trained and specialized work force capable of implementing live shows and multi- technology shows. In all art performance specializations, inherited professions for cultural industries such as: film making, theatre, video, ballet, musical performance, folklore and children arts, … 


UB issued “Meeza” national prepaid card as a monthly reward. Given to the students at the school time and in internships as well. Besides, organizing cultural lectures to spread financial cashless transaction concepts and mechanisms. Through “Your bank online” package which includes the digital banking, mobile banking, and internet banking. In addition to ATMs services for students and instructional staff and internship in the school.

El Sabban concluded that investing on dollar in education equals 4 dollars revenue in favor of the citizen to improve his living and achieve economic and social development.

  1. The Annual Competition to sponsor Holy Quran Reciters

El Sabban referred to UB’s obligation to sponsor the annual competition for Quran Reciters in 20 governorates in the Republic. More than 2000 reciters in this program are to be socially and educationally supported aiming to provide the society with well-educated religious youth.
