UB received 55 awards along with local and international recognition through 17 years of professional banking work

Throughout the 17 years of achievements and continual work in the Egyptian market, UB received 55 local and international awards specialized in the economic sector. Ten of these 55 were received in 2023, thanks to the concerted efforts of its beloved work team and their devotion to accomplish the corporate strategy.

In January 2023-, Global Economist awarded UB “The Most Sustainable Islamic Bank 2022”.

In February 2023 & November 2023- UB compliant with sharia monetary fund Rakhaa came on top of the Islamic cash investing funds’ performance in the market by the end of December 2022.  CI Capital Company manages the fund.

In June 2023- EMEA-Finance granted UB 2 awards as; “The Best Project Finance Award 2022”. These awards mirror the best performance in syndicated loans provided to strategic developmental projects for food financing, fertilizers, and agricultural activities, in Africa, Middle East, Russia, and Turkey.

The first award: for participating in financing the best cross-joint loan to finance agricultural and industrial activities in the Africa and the Middle East region, Russia and Turkey.

The second award: for participating in financing the best cross- joint loan provided to an industrial activity.

In July 2023-, UB was awarded Payment Card Industry- Data security standards PCI- DSS to comply with international standards.

In October 2023-, UB wins the first place in the Egyptian Banking Institute competition about The Future of Virtual Currencies.

In November 2023-, UB leads the economic indicator “Business News” in the IT expenditure Capex. The thing that assures UB strategy and vision based on the efficiency of the technological environment and guarantees it is coping with the fourth technological revolution and the global development in digital banking services.

In November 2023-, UB leads the indicator classification “Business News” in the media and communication channels for year 2022.

In November 2023-, UB gets the second place in the commercial banks classification that provide Islamic financial services. As per the report of Egyptian Assembly for Islamic finance.

An overview of UB awards since establishment in 2006 until 2022

It began with UB receiving award of Excellence from MISYS international Company in 2007 after only couple of month of its establishment.

In 2012-, Standard Chartered Bank of America awarded UB “Direct Payment Processing 2012”.

In 2013-, UB gets two awards from international institutions:

The first prize: Standard Chartered Bank of America awarded UB “Direct Payment Processing 2013 for the second year in row.

The second prize: Excellence in Performance and Maximization of Return from Money Transfer Service award from Money Gram.

In 2014-, Standard Chartered Bank of America awarded UB “Direct Payment Processing 2014”.

In April 2018-, The Union of Arab awarded UB the award of The Most Innovative Bank.

In July 2018-, The Union of Arab awarded UB the award of the Best Regional Investment Tools, Rakhaa Fund, which is compatible with sharia provisions.

In December 2018- Ashraf El Kady –UB Chairman, had the first place among the most influential bankers, in Banker’s Lounge Website referendum specialized for financial institutions. One of the most famous specialized websites.

In January 2018- Nevin Kashmiry- Deputy Managing Director of Business Sector, was chosen among the most influential 50 women in the Egyptian market.

In December 2018- Germien Amer- Head of Corporate Communications, was chosen among the most 10 influential women in the banking market, according to a referendum done on Banker’s Lounge website.

In February 2019 - The Federation of Arab Banks announced that the United Bank won the "Excellence for Arab Digital Banks 2018" award for the second time in a row.

In February 2019 – UB Rakhaa Fund won the Best Islamic Cash Fund in the Middle East from the Global Investors Foundation, which is affiliated with the Euro money Foundation.

In March 2019-, UB received “The Excellence and Innovation in Fin Tech. on the side lines of the eleventh annual summit, the Gateway to Sustainable Investments for Africa.

In June 2019 - EMEA International Finance granted the United Bank two prizes as the best financing performance for major joint strategic project loans in Africa, the Middle East and Russia.

The first prize: for participating in financing the best cross joint loan to finance agricultural and industrial activities in the Africa and the Middle East region and granted to the Canal Sugar Company to finance the company’s project to produce beet sugar.

The second prize: for participation in financing the best joint loan granted to finance heavy industrial activity in Africa and the Middle East for the year 2018. And by participating in the joint loan granted to Al-Ezz Rolling Company.

In July 2019 - Rakhaa Cash Fund also won the award for the best investment mechanism in accordance with the provisions of Sharia from the Union of Arab Banks for the second year in a row.

In November 2019 - Ashraf Al-Qadi - Chairman of the Board and Moataz Al-Qasabi - Deputy Managing Director obtained a certificate of banking leadership from Harvard University in the United States in a list of 47 Egyptian bankers.

In December 2019 - The United Bank received a presidential certificate signed by His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi in appreciation of his role in supporting the Viva Egypt Fund by participating in 6 national initiatives under the auspices of the Viva Egypt Fund.

In December 2019 and throughout 4 years in row until 2022-, UB got the first four places in the referendum done on Banker’s lounge website and social media channels:

  • The best banking leadership went to Ashraf El Kady- UB Chairman and Managing Director.
  • The most influential women leadership went to Nevine Kashmiry- Deputy Managing Director for Business Sector.
  • The most influential women leadership went to Germien Amer- Head of Corporate Communications.
  • The most influential young banking leadership went to Eman Shehab- Assistant General Manager of banking operations sector.

In September 2019 - Nevin Kashmiri - Egyptian Women Forum - Deputy Managing Director of Business Sectors and Germien Amer - President of Corporate Communication awarded the Egyptian Women 2019.

In June 2019 - IDC awarded Ahmed Helmy - Head of Information Technology Sector the Excellence Award in Digital Transformation at the level of the Middle East.

In March 2019 - The National Council for Women granted Samia Madani - Director of the Upper Egypt Region of the United Bank a certificate of appreciation in honor of her great efforts in the advancement of Suhaj women society on the 100th anniversary of the Egyptian Women's Day.

In February 2019 - Diplomacy magazine Nevine Kashmiri - Deputy Managing Director of the Business Sectors of the United Bank was chosen among the 25 most powerful women influencing business enterprises in 2018 in a public referendum conducted by the magazine in Egypt and the Arab world.

In January 2019 –  The 50th Forum for Women. The most influential women in business institutions in Egypt for the year 2018, awarded Germine Amer - Head of Corporate Communication. That’s for her influential contributions in the field of institutional communication, which was reflected in the media performance of the Foundation in the Egyptian market, According to the annual report prepared by Forum 50 according to the professional standards and official classification of the forum.

In September 2020 - The United Bank - Egypt won The "Best Digital Banking Channels - Egypt 2020" from International Finance magazine for the second year consecutively. The selection of The United Bank comes as a culmination and confirmation of its brilliance in the Egyptian market by providing a group of advanced banking services to support its customer base, whether for individuals and companies, using modern technological technologies.

In February 2020 - Nevine Kashmiry - Deputy Managing Director of The United Bank - won the Goodwill Ambassador for the State of Nepal 2020 within the Egyptian diplomatic mission 2020.

In February 2020- Ashraf El Kady - Chairman of The United Bank was awarded the "100 best leaders 2019" according to the selection of the summit of virtues in its fifth session. Under the patronage of Dr. Mostafa Madbouly - Prime Minister of Egypt and a number of ministers, including Dr. Hala El Saeed - Minister of Planning and Dr. Nevine Game’a - Minister of Foreign Trade.

In February 2020 - Ashraf El Kady - Chairman of The United Bank won the top 25 influential banking leaders 2019 in the diplomatic field, according to the annual diplomatic magazine survey.

In February 2020 - Germien Amer – Head of Corporate Communication won The top 25 media influential women 2019 in the banking field, according to the annual diplomatic magazine survey.

In 2020- The Union of Arab Banks grants UB the Excellence Award for the "Best Arab Digital Financial Institutions" 2020. This award was granted as a culmination to its devotion and glow in the Egyptian market through presenting a package of developed banking services to support its clients, either individuals or corporates using the latest technology.

The Union of Arab Banks awarded UB “The Best Arb Digital Financial Inclusion for 2020”.

For the second year in row, IDC awarded Ahmed Helmy - Head of Information Technology Sector the Excellence Award in Digital Transformation at the level of the Middle East for year 2020.

In January 2021- Farag Abd El Hamid the award of the best performance for Vice president in banking sector “Leaders Award 2020” in the referendum done by the economic institution World Of Money.

In March 2021- Gehane Abou Hussein- Head of CSR in UB was chosen as the ideal mother for 2021.

In September 2021- Germien Amer- Head of Corporate Communications in UB was honored for her media contributions and her concerted efforts to develop and improve the image of women in Egypt Conference, the Gateway to Sustainable Investments for Africa.

In November 2021- The Arab Council for Social Responsibility in The Arab States League awards
The United Bank "Arab Charitable Award" for the most innovative projects "Tagaleyat" for economic empowerment of Saint Catherine’s habitat.

In January 2022- The Global Economics awarded Ashraf El Kady, President of The United Bank Leadership Outstanding Contribution Towards Banking Sector 2021” award.

The British award was granted according to six criteria that have been conducted in UB led by Ashraf El Kady for the five years from 2016 to 2021:

  • Organizational Development
  • Institutional growth in light of governance and sustainable economy applications
  • Applications of innovative solutions for financial engineering
  • Rehabilitation of the educational and training system to create future leaders
  • Strategic expansion
  • Culture and media

In September 2022- International Finance Magazine has announced UB winning the award of “The best digital banking channels- Egypt 2020”. That was to crown UB’s exerted efforts in providing banking solutions and banking products through innovative digital channels and tools.

UB has been selected to this award according to meticulous criteria and accurate evaluation, by a committee of international experts in digital channels field, for the kind of services and banking solutions provided by UB to support its clients, either individuals or corporates, using the modern technology tools.

In October 2022- UB was awarded as a strategic partner by El Sheikh Abdullah Ben Ibrahim Ben Abdullah El Kharif. Highlighting its supportive policy in Arab investments, expansion especially in agricultural field, livestock development and value chains to achieve local self- sufficiency and raising export rates.

In October 2022- Nevine El Kabbag- Minister of Social Solidarity, has witnessed, on behalf of Prime Minister- Mostafa Madbouly, the ceremony of launching the first meeting for Baheya Foundation with success partners of individuals and corporates. On the sideline of the event, UB led by Ashraf El Kady has been awarded for its strategic partnership with Baheya since establishment.

Dr. Nevine El Kabbag has given Gehan Abou Hussein- Head of UB Eythar CSR Baheya foundation shield of an appreciation.That’s to honor UB and its CSR for the supportive role played to support women health in different governorates.
